Mechanical Engineering Design & Heavy Vehicle Certification
Providing independent mechanical engineering design, analysis and LT400 certification for heavy vehicles, plant & equipment throughout Central Otago, and the Lower South Island.
Services
Heavy Vehicle Engineering & LT400 Certification
LT400 Heavy Vehicle Certification: NZTA heavy vehicle specialist certificate to support repair, modification and/or manufacture of critical components on Heavy Vehicles (GVM above 3500kg).
Chassis Repairs & Modifications (HVEC): Design, analysis, and certification of chassis frame repairs, wheelbase modifications, steering and suspension modifications, seats and seatbelts, and specialist body mounts (i.e. tipper body, crane, water cart etc.).
Towing Connections (HVET): Design, re-certification and modification of drawbeams, drawbars, heavy towbars, skid plates, and 5th wheels.
Load Anchorages (HVEA): Design and analysis of load anchorage (rope rails, chain eyes, twistlocks and other specialist load anchorage systems)
Mechanical Engineering Design & Analysis
Lifting Devices: We offer end-to-end design, engineering analysis, and certification for specialized lifting equipment to meet the strict safety and structural requirements of AS/NZS 4991.
Fall Arrest Anchors: We design, analyze, and certify fall arrest anchor points and height safety support structures in accordance with AS/NZS 1891.4.
Other Mechanical Equipment Design: We design and certify a broad range of heavy industrial mechanical steelwork and safety structures, including ROPS , FOPS , and COPS, custom structural steelwork, access platforms, material handling systems, and industrial machinery tailored to the demanding environments of the region.
Project Management: Have a complex mechanical project or fabrication job, but aren't sure where to start or who to engage? We take the hassle out of your hands by managing the engineering and fabrication process from concept through to final sign-off. Utilizing our full design and certification capabilities, we coordinate seamlessly with fabricators, contractors, and specialized engineering partners—simplifying the workflow so you deal with one single, reliable point of contact
CAD, FEA and Workshop Drawings
3D CAD Modelling: Utilising SolidWorks software, we create precise, fully articulated 3D models for mechanical components, machinery, and heavy vehicle components. By pairing high-level digital design with practical Design for Manufacture (DFM) skills, we ensure every concept is engineered from the start to be efficient, cost-effective, and straightforward to build.
Workshop/As-Built Drawings: We deliver clear, precise, and concise workshop drawings designed specifically to speed up and simplify the fabrication process on the shop floor. Our detailed drawing packages eliminate guesswork for fabricators and machinists, reducing lead times and costly shop-floor rework. To streamline the production workflow even further, we supply ready-to-use DXF files for precision laser, plasma, or waterjet profile cutting.
Finite Element Analysis: We are fully equipped with specialized FEA capability and analytical skills to perform rigorous structural and stress analysis on complex engineered equipment. By simulating real-world operational loads, dynamic forces, and stress concentrations before physical fabrication begins, we verify structural integrity, optimize material usage, and ensure full compliance with relevant engineering standards.
“We had Ben come in and help us with several recertifications. He was very prompt in getting underway and helped us complete the certifications in a timely manner, with very little disruption to the day-to-day running of our business.”
